Steen Jergensen graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a B.S. in Geological Engineering
in December of 1997. He was Newfield's first Summer Intern in 1997 and was hired full time in
February 1998. Steen worked 7 years in Houston as a GOM Geologist and has worked in Denver for the
last 3 years as a Rocky Mtn. Geologist. Steen has been a part of Newfield's College Recruiting and
Mentoring program for the past 8 years and is currently the Lead Campus Recruiter for the Colorado
School of Mines Team.
Lee Gladney graduated from LSU in 1977 with a B.S. in Geology. Lee is currently the exploration
coordinator for Newfield's Gulf Coast Onshore Division, responsible for geological, geophysical,
and exploration activities in Texas and Louisiana.
Valerie Mitchell graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1996 with a B.S. in Chemical
Engineering. She held various engineering and management positions for Shell Oil Company and El Paso
Corporation before coming to Newfield in 2004. Valerie is currently the manager of Business
Development and Acquisitions for the Texas Gulf Coast area for Newfield Exploration.
Kristie Luchtel Ferguson received her B.S. in Geology in 1996 from Oklahoma State University and
her M.S. in Geology in 1999 from the University of Kansas. She began working in the oil industry
in 1996 with Phillips Petroleum. Since then, she has worked for the Kansas Geological Survey,
Exxon New Orleans (ExxonMobil), Samson and currently Newfield Exploration. She sits on the OSU
Advisory Board for the School of Geology and is also the President of the Tulsa Geological Society.
She loves geology and challenges that this industry brings.
Lynn Campbell is a 1983 PNGE graduate of The Pennsylvania State University. He has worked for
several major (Shell, Tenneco) and independent E&P Companies in his 25 yr career, all of which
have been spent in Production and Operations assignments. Nine years of experience included
international assignments. He is currently Eastern Production Manager in the NFX Mid-continent
division office in Tulsa.
Suzanne Adams graduated from Texas A&M with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in the Spring of
2003. She worked for Weatherford in Houston for three years in their Artificial Lift Department.
In July of 2006 she moved to Tulsa to work for Newfield Exploration. She currently works the
Woodford Shale on the Operations Team.
Chad Trainer graduated in 2003 from The University of Tulsa with a BS. in Petroleum Engineering.
He began his career working as a Field Engineer for Computalog (Precision Drilling) in Houston,
2003-2004. He joined Newfield Exploration in February 2005 and has worked in the Drilling &
Completions and Production & Operations departments for over the past 3 years.
2008 will be his third 3rd year to recruit for Newfield on campus at The University of Tulsa and
The University of Oklahoma.
Steve Royer is a 1998 MS graduate of UT’s Department of Geological Sciences. He began his career
at Shell Exploration and Production Company in September 1998, where he worked exploration and
development in the Gulf of Mexico, almost entirely in the deepwater areas. In April 2005 Steve
joined Newfield Exploration Company where he continues to work exploration in the deepwater Gulf
of Mexico.
